They describe themselves as “We are RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company with 40 years of experience delivering global renewable energy solutions.”

Their Corporate website is here.

The latest accounts available are for the year ending 31st October 2022. In that year

  • Their turnover was £107,885,000
  • They made a loss of £67,024,000
  • They paid dividends to shareholders of  £79,000,000 (yes, £79 million)

Their Proposals for our mountain are outlined here httpds://www.mynyddmaen-windfarm.co.uk/ although many of us feel the online information, consultations, and the subsequent  exhibitions were severely lacking in meaningful information and that answers to queries were very, shall we say, circumspect.

For instance the online information for the June 2023 exhibition was only available on the morning  of the exhibition, allowing little time for anyone to study the proposals, and the completion of  comments forms were requested there and then. Visualisations, or photomontages were few and only one was from Cwmbran. The view was taken at a distance of 4km, and the turbines were hardly visible, see below.

At no time was anyone made aware of the huge scale of this project, and the actual size of the 13 turbines.

Above was the only photomontage from Cwmbran available online or at the June 2023 exhibition. It is a view from Edlogan Way, station car park on the right. Can you see the turbines?

Can you spot the turbines?         (The original picture can be seen here. )

More on the possible inadequacies of the consultation later.
