My Story
Huge wind turbines of up to 180 metres tall could surround my village
by... Joe
I am not against wind farms in general so when they announced they were going build wind farms in these areas I was not too worried about it, I assumed that the turbines would be of a similar size to the current two turbines, which are 45 meters high.

However the turbines that are being proposed for Mynydd Llanhilleth Wind Farm are far bigger at 180 metres high, 4 times higher than the current two and the Mynydd Maen wind farm turbines will be 150 metres high.
This wind farm will consist of 7 huge turbines, 2 of which will be on farmland directly behind our village, the closest turbine being only 956 metres away.

The Mynydd Maen wind farm will consist of 13 huge turbines, 4 of which will be along the ridge line directly in front of our village, the closest turbine being only be 1km away. These turbines are 150m high, still huge, and as large as the single largest turbine in England (which is on an industrial estate, at sea level).
As I said above I’m not against wind farms but there are limits as to how close you want to be from such huge turbines and these two developments have far exceeded those limits.
