Fears and reassurance over Twyn Hywel wind farm between Caerphilly and Rhondda with turbines bigger than Blackpool Tower

People have been speaking of their concerns about a wind farm with 200m high turbines in the South Wales Valleys. Bute Energy is proposing an energy park called Twyn Hywel made up of 14, 200m high (to blade tip) turbines on the border between Caerphilly and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

To put that into perspective, the Shard in London is 310 metres tall, so the turbines would be around two-thirds as high. Three of the proposed turbines are planned to be sited on Cefn Eglwysilan, above Cilfynydd in RCT. It is designated as a development of national significance so it will be up to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) to decide.
