The deadline for objections has now passed
This windfarm is of particular interest to those living in Pantygasseg who will have these turbines behind their houses and 13 Mynydd Maen Turbines straight in front of them.
Developer: Pennant Walters Ltd

Some of the documents are available here https://mynydd-llanhilleth.co.uk/project-documents/ but all the documents are available on The PEDW site below.

Status: VERY LITTLE TIME! OBJECT NOW
(The deadline for objections is Friday 5th September 2025! THIS FRIDAY!)
Pennant Walters propose seven 180m high turbines.
To put this in prospective they will be 4 times higher than the two turbines at Coed y Gilfach Farm that overlook Six Bells, nearly 3 times higher that the tower block in Cwmbran and twice the height of the MET Mast that’s up by the Tirpentwys quarry. Shockingly each blade on these turbines will be longer (75m) than the height of the tower block in Cwmbran.
All the turbines accept turbine number 8 are outside the pre-assessed area for wind energy.
The preferred Delivery Route for the turbines is from Swansea Docks along the M4 to Newport M4 Junction 26. Then on the A4051 Malpas to the A4042 Turnpike Road and on to Croesyceiliog Bypass all the way to Pontypool. Then the A472 Pontypool to the A4043 to Abersychan and then the B4246 to Talywain and Farm Road. Then up the unnamed road past the Barracks up to Byrgwm. The unnamed road past the Barracks up to Byrgwm has a gradient of 13%.
This image shows the delivery of a similar size turbine blade.

According to the swept path drawings the vehicle carrying the turbine blade will be a total of 63m long. THIS IS CLEARLY WRONG! With a rotor diameter of 150m the blades must be almost 75m, say 74m long then we have to add the cab and clearance makes the total length around 80m!
This mistake is worrying!
The AILs (Abnormal Indivisible Loads) and all the construction HGVs will pass north form Pontypool and turn left in Abersychan where the vehicle will use most of the width of the carpark to allow it to turn up towards Big Arch. Lamp posts, the bus stand, signposts and bollards will be removed.
Here is an extract from PW drawing of the modifications required to this junction. It is very feint, probably intentionally, but you can click to enlarge!
Local roads & communities affected are:
Along the A472 Pontypool.
Along the A4043 Pontypool – Pontnewynydd – Abersychan.
Along the B4246 Abersychan – Talywain & Farm Road, The British.
The B4246 Talywain will experience a 166% increase in HGVs movements when compared to normal HGV traffic on this highway link. Estimated construction materials, 65,000 tonnes of Stone, 500 tonnes of Tarmac, 1,500 tonnes of Sand & 9,187 tonnes of Concrete.
Total loaded delivery trips consisting of concrete, turbine parts, transformers, cables & cranes, = 5290, making a total of 10580 vehicle movements through these communities
Bush Terrace and New Houses, Pantygasseg will have this view to the rear of their houses, the turbines will be heard and are less than 1km away.
From the front of their houses they will see most of the Mynydd Maen Turbines and at least one Trecelyn Wind Farm Turbine. The nearest Mynydd Maen Turbine will also be 1km away.
Besides the oppressive visual impact they also will suffer from the cumulative noise of both wind farms, which will at times exceed the maximum allowed (according to the developers) but Pennant Walters say they will takes steps to mitigate this!
